The start of construction for Aspen Medical Hospital in Depok, Indonesia, is more than just the beginning of a new building; it signals a transformative step forward in healthcare for the region. Emerald Hospital Design, a joint venture between Deerns, TeamworX, and Dutch Health Architects is spearheading this project. The project, which is targeting a Platinum certification from the Green Building Council Indonesia, is the first facility in a 20-hospital network that aims to set a new standard in accessible, sustainable, and future-ready healthcare in Indonesia.
A Landmark Project in Indonesian Healthcare
Â
The goal of this project is clear: to meet Indonesia’s growing healthcare needs with state-of-the-art hospitals that prioritize patient care, staff wellbeing, and environmental sustainability. With its compact 24,000 square meter structure, Aspen Medical Hospital is designed to provide patients with high quality of care. This commitment to accessibility reflects the hospital’s mission to serve both private and universal health insurance patients.
Â
TeamworX plays a key role as the local consultant, leveraging their in-depth understanding of Indonesia’s building codes, regulations, tendering and construction methodology.Â
Â
As a member of Emerald Hospital Design (EHD) TeamworX is responsible for the local know how in Indonesia including Civil and Structural Design, detailing of Architectural, Mechanical and Electrical design, Building Material selections, cost control and tendering.
Our team ensures that all designs are fully compliant with the latest regulations, with a particular focus on the specific requirements for hospital buildings. The project’s civil and structural design complies fully with the latest seismic codes in Indonesia for hospitals and with fire safety regulation and accessibility requirements for individuals with disabilities. It also aligns with current market trends toward Net Zero and de-carbonization. Additionally, the development will pursue Green Building Certification under Indonesia's GREENSHIP system, offering benefits such as improved energy efficiency, air quality, waste reduction, lower carbon emissions, and long-term cost savings in energy, water, and maintenance, while enhancing the project's sustainability and corporate image.
Â
To ensure the smooth execution of the construction process and alignment with the Client’s requirements, TeamworX was also appointed to deploy a dedicated team on-site to oversee the work of the contractors. The systems implemented by TeamworX allow all project stakeholders to track progress in real-time, from any location. Our on-site presence guarantees that the hospital project is completed on schedule and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Construction Updates and Project Milestones
Â
Construction recently progressed with the completion of the piling, forming a strong foundation for the earthquake-resistant structure essential in Indonesia's seismic zone. Moving from the design phase to active construction marks an exciting and crucial milestone as the project advances toward its goal of opening within the next two years.
Â
Aspen Medical Hospital will stand as a flexible, futureproof facility built to accommodate potential expansions and shifts in room functionality. This adaptability is crucial for an evolving healthcare environment, especially given the limited land available in densely populated areas like Depok.
Â
TeamworX is proud to share its expertise on local codes and regulations specific to hospital construction in Indonesia. In collaboration with our partners from the Netherlands, we hosted a dedicated knowledge-sharing session to ensure that the design and construction of the first Aspen Medical Hospital adheres to all local regulatory requirements. This successful joint venture has fostered a mutually beneficial partnership among all stakeholders, paving the way for significant long-term value for Aspen Medical Hospital.
Â
